Bali has always held a special place in our hearts - as it does for many Australians - whose first overseas experience most likely has been the island of the gods.

As the Founder & Creative Director of rhodin.... I have been personally travelling to Bali since the age of 4 ( when the airport was simply a large open metal structure and there were no special "get through customs faster"options.

At last count I hit trip number 29 - which started out as pure holidays and now have become a mix of business and pleasure.

I wanted to share with our rhodin community my absolute favourite hotel and home away from home...Alila Ubud.

Tucked up and away within the Ubud rainforest sitting high above the Ayung River Valley - Alila Ubud is truly a piece of magical landscape.

Traditional in Balinese design mixed with modern touches and local staff love , you will find yourself instantly relaxed as you're welcomed with a local refreshing drink of Jamu upon arrival. 

As you finish check -in you will be whisked away by private golf cart to your room - in one of the 14 blocks (56 rooms) designed to pay homaege to a traditional balinese village. All rooms have a view of the valley.  If you are feeling like a real treat - then you can book one of the 8 Villas dotted around the resort. Super Luxe & Super Private. One of my favourite rooms is a Ground Floor with outside rainforest bathroom.

The first thing I do is book in for a traditional balinese massage at the Day Spa and follow this with complimentary afternoon tea served by the pool deck.

If you are an avid novel reader on holiday like me  - an have forgotten your book - there is a library just up in the reception pavilion where you can pick a book from the many that past guests have left behind. On my last visit  I managed to pick up The Devil wears Prada plus one of my all time holiday novelists Barbara Taylor Bradford.

My last trip was business with pleasure as I shot my latest campaign "Island Oasis" Shot across the resort the campaign was to showcase what a getaway at Alila Ubud looked like. We shot our latest earring designs, sunglasses and our very first Resort collection designs - The White & Black Resort shirts.
